Slidell Marriage Records
Slidell marriage records are maintained by the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court. Slidell residents have the advantage of a local annex office that accepts marriage license applications right in the city, in addition to the main courthouse in Covington. This guide covers both offices, the fees, what documents to bring, and how to search Slidell marriage records.
Slidell Quick Facts
St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court
The St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court handles all marriage records for Slidell and the rest of the parish. What makes Slidell convenient is that there is a local annex office right in the city, so you do not always have to drive to Covington for your license. The Slidell Annex accepts marriage license applications and handles other clerk services.
The Slidell Annex office is at 520 Old Spanish Trail, 5th Floor, Slidell, LA 70458. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment. One important detail: the office closes from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day for lunch. Plan your visit around that window. The annex cannot receive mail or packages, so if you need to mail anything, send it to the Covington address.
The main office in Covington is at the Justice Center, 701 N. Columbia Street, Covington, LA 70433. That office handles marriage license applications too, with phone contact at (985) 809-8745 specifically for marriage license questions. Hours at the main office are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Slidell Annex office page above from the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court shows current hours, contact information, and services available at the Slidell location.

Getting a Marriage License in Slidell
Marriage license applications can be filed at the Slidell Annex or the main office in Covington. Both handle the full process. If you go to the annex, remember the 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. closure and plan accordingly.
Under Louisiana law at R.S. 9:222, a marriage license issued in St. Tammany Parish is valid across the entire state. You do not have to hold the ceremony in Slidell. The license is good for 30 days from issue. A marriage ceremony using a Louisiana license must be performed in Louisiana.
The 72-hour waiting period applies in St. Tammany Parish. Under R.S. 9:241, you cannot marry until 72 hours after the license is issued. That clock starts the moment you get the license. A judge can waive the wait under R.S. 9:242 in certain situations. The license also expires 30 days from the date and time of issue, not just the date.
The fee for a marriage license in St. Tammany Parish is $27.50 plus $5.00 per attachment. If you need additional attachments to the license document, budget for those. Certified copies of a marriage record cost $11.00 each.
Both parties must appear in person to apply. You cannot send one person alone or submit the application by mail. Come together with all required documents.
Required Documents for Slidell Marriage License
Both applicants need a valid photo ID. A driver's license, state ID, or passport all work. Certified birth certificates are required for each person. Regular photocopies or hospital records are not enough. The certificates must be certified by the agency that issued them.
Both parties must provide Social Security numbers. The clerk also needs both parents' names, birthplaces, and the mother's maiden name for each applicant. If either person was previously married, bring proof that the marriage ended. A certified divorce decree or death certificate of a former spouse is required under R.S. 9:225. Do not leave this out if it applies to you.
The Personal Documents page from the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court above lists the current requirements for marriage license applications, including those filed at the Slidell Annex.
Search Slidell Marriage Records Online
The eClerksLA statewide portal lets you search St. Tammany Parish marriage records from any device. You can look up records by name or date without visiting either office. This is useful if you just need basic record information or are searching from outside the area.
The Louisiana Clerks Remote Access Authority portal is another option for accessing St. Tammany Parish marriage records online. Both portals provide indexes and document access for participating parishes. For certified copies, you still need to contact the clerk's office directly.
Historical Slidell and St. Tammany Parish marriage records may be found at the Louisiana State Archives. For post-1946 certified marriage certificates, the Louisiana Department of Health is another source. The health department issues a shorter certificate that confirms the marriage took place but does not contain the full license application details.
Note: Only the Clerk of Court can issue full certified marriage records with all original application data.
